It's Monday. Intro to yoga.
I missed a couple classes while I was in Maine and Portugal, so I am a bit behind.
Last week the class learned this pose - the supported shoulder stand. As I get older, I get a little less daring with some of these upside down poses - but I did it - with some instructor help. And pretty well for the first try.
According to yoga journal, this inversion pose has loads of benefits, including
- Calms the brain, relieving stress and mild depression
- Toning the legs and buttocks
- Improving digestion
- Relieving the symptoms of menopause
- Reducing fatigue and alleviating insomnia
- Providing therapy for asthma, infertility, and sinusitis
Equally as important, according to Yoga Journal it is not good to be upside down on your shoulders with your legs up to the sky if you...
- Have a neck injury
- Have high blood pressure
- Have diarrhea
Umm. Eww. Duh.
Sounds like you need to be versitile!
