That is me at the castle overlooking Lisbon.
I took the afternoon off and walked around the city. It was sunny and warm. A perfect day to explore. I slowly meandered up one of Lisbon's 7 hills to the Saint George Castle - and stopped in two churches on the way.
I love just kind of roaming around and stumbling onto great surprises.
Here is a cat on one narrow cobblestone street. He refused to move. Clearly very comfortable there. If you look at the end of the street, you can see another tourist taking a picture of me taking a picture of the cat.
Here are the two churches. Saint Anthony's is in front. The Lisbon Cathedral is behind. I loves me some catholicity.
Here is more of the Lisbon Cathedral. It was amazing. I thought the kids in orange hats were cute.
It was originally built just after Lisbon was captured from the Moors in 1147. Out in the back, in the cloister, there is an archaeological dig that has found roman ruins (#4 is a roman store, #3 is a roman sewer) and Moorish ruins too (#6 is an Islamic dump).
More pics from inside the Cathedral...
Beautiful...
Odd..
And here are some more pics from up at the Castle...

Tomorrow I get up at 330am to fly back to Washington - but I am happy I finally got to see Lisbon - or at least one of the 7 hills.

I *love* Lisboa. The area you visited is one I go to every time I visit there. I love the fort (it used to be free!) and of course, St. Anthony's. It's a cute little church. Safe flight back to DC
