Yes, there are birds in the Heights - and now they are feeding on my balcony. Woo Hoo.
When I am in DC I work from home. My desk (dining table) looks out at the city. It's a great view - but wants for some life and a softer side.
So Birds. Last weekend I got a bird feeder to bring some nature right up to my windowsill. The "directions" said it could take WEEKS for the birds to "find" my feeder stuffed with food.
Really? How hard could it be to find here in the dead of winter in the middle of the city. There aren't a lot of competing feeding options. I live in a building with 70 units and probably 100 balconies. Not one has a birdfeeder dangling like i do.
I have been watching the feeder nonstop since Sunday. Nuttin. Until this morning. Finally, this beauty flew up and ate and ate and ate. And poo'd a bit too.
I can't wait to see if he invites some friends over tomorrow.
A grosbeak of some sort. Very nice!

Very exciting!!! It will be great to see more feathered "visitors" on your balcony and see all the different breeds feeding away :-).
