I am successfully continuing with my Zipcar Low-Car-Diet. 2 weeks and I have not used my car once.
Today I rented a MINI to take my mother to NIH in the DC burbs. Zip gives each of its cars a name. This MINI was named Mecca. OK.
This was my second Zipcar experience. As with the first, it went ok. Generally.
I was happy that this time the car had a full tank of gas. One of the Zipcar rules is that you must return it with at least 1/4 tank of gas. I prefer more when I am getting into the driver seat.
I wasn't happy that there was some funky indicator light on the dashboard as I drove off. I had no idea what it was and so yanked the manual out of the dashboard and had Ma figure out what was going on.
Mecca was trying to tell us we had a flat tire. We didn't. It was a bit annoying to have to figure out in a strange car what the nonsensical indicator meant.
The other annoyance today has to do with valet parking. Not too easy with the Zipcar. You aren't supposed to remove the keys from the car and you lock it with your membership card - which the valets need to park your car. They didn't return it to me as I was leaving and so I had to drive back to get it. Very annoying. Lesson learned. That won't happen again.
Beyond that not a bad experience for my second Zipcar outing. Tomorrow I have a date with a Honda Element called Eminem. Should be fun.
