It is always a bit sad to end a vacation. Our first visit to Ecuador together was a good one. Despite both being sick at various times over the past 11 days, we did a lot, saw a lot, moved around a lot, stayed in some amazing hotels, and had a great time. .
Today we spent some more time enjoying Quito. The city has really grown on us both. After an early breakfast we took a cab to the top of the Panecillo mountain to see the Virgin of Quito up close. We did some more shopping for gifts after that and then explored a beautiful neighborhood, Quapalo, that seemed more like a rural village than a part of this big city. We zigzagged back to the Carolina park and the botanical garden for a bit more of Quito’s flora before heading back to the hotel for a wonderful and personal dinner. And our redeye flight back to Atlanta and Washingon
And here are my Five Favorite Fotos from day 10...

All of Quito seemed to be in the Carolina Park today.

The Virgin of Quito sits high on a hill. You can see her from all over the city. We visited her up close this morning.
Just liked it...
