Today was one of those days on a trip that we will always remember. The kind of days that make travel so amazing. We spent all day in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozo game reserve, the oldest one in all of Africa where Zulu kings hunted and put in place the first conservation laws. It is the only reserve in this part of the country where you can see all of the "big five" animals of African legend (Elephant, Rhino, Water Buffalo, Lion, and Leopard).
We were in the park early (6am) and nearly all day (until sunset) with Justin, our guide. We saw four of the big five and lots of them. Lots. for me, the scenery itself was breathtaking. Adding the animals made it a very emotional and spiritual experience. Initially, both Jean and I were not even sure we wanted to spend time in a park. We are so glad we did.
And here are my Five Favorite Fotos from day 8 of this adventure...
Nature...
Lionness and cubs...the circle of life.
Beauty...
Full moon over the bushlands of Africa as we left the park.
Fun...
Happy as Rhinos in mud.
Spirit...
I did not want to stop riding in the jeep over these trails through the hills and grasses.
Just liked it...
Dung beetles! Female on top for the ride while the male on the side does the pushing.
